The itch

World of Warcraft measures distances in yards, and most of the world thinks in metres. Yards to Km makes the conversion as you play, for WoW Classic Era 1.15.9, Hardcore included.

How it works

  • Finds numbers followed by yard, yards, yd or yds in readable UI text and spell tooltips, and rewrites them.
  • Uses metres for short distances and kilometres for long ones, with a kilometres-only mode and compact or precise formatting.
  • Converts both ends of a range: 8-35 yd range becomes 7 m - 32 m range.
  • Saves settings account-wide and refreshes converted text when they change.
  • Changes displayed text only, never spell ranges or game mechanics.

Shipping it properly

A small project, run like a real one: automated tests and packaging on every push with GitHub Actions, versioned releases with an installable ZIP, an MIT licence and contributor docs.
